Herringbone, bath and underfloor heating
A bathroom stripped back to the screed and rebuilt from scratch: new pipework, underfloor heating, a built-in bath and a herringbone feature wall.
Nothing of the old bathroom survived this job. The walls went back to the concrete, the floor was rebuilt and all the pipework was run again. That is the moment to get right the things you never see afterwards: where the drains sit, the fall of the shower floor, the connections behind the wall.
Underfloor heating sits on top of the new floor, so no radiator has to steal space. The wall behind the basin is laid in herringbone. That pattern only works if the substrate is dead straight and the tiles are set out in advance.
Terug naar het casco
Muren gestript, oude leidingen eruit, nieuwe waterleiding en afvoer op maat getrokken. Elke aansluiting is uitgemeten voordat de wand weer dichtging.
Vloerverwarming onder de tegels
De vloerverwarming is in de dekvloer meegenomen. Het oude bad stond er nog toen de mat werd uitgerold, zodat de badkamer zo lang mogelijk bruikbaar bleef.
Bad inbouwen en alles waterdicht
Het ligbad is ingemetseld en afgetimmerd, de douchehoek is volledig waterdicht gemaakt met kimband en waterdichtingslagen tot ruim boven de doucheslang.
Uitzetten en tegelen
Grootformaat tegels op de wand, visgraat achter de wastafel. Alles begint bij het uitzetten: waar valt de eerste tegel, waar komt de snijmaat, hoe loopt het patroon de hoek om.
